Small Business Coaching Tips Week 2: Branding

Hello and welcome to the Week 2 Post. This week the topic is branding. Does your business name, logo, website and every other way you communicate with your target market convey the message you want? Can you clearly articulate what your brand (image) is? When starting a business there are so many things that need to get done and sometimes this can create a lack of continuity. Establishing a brand or specific image you want to project can help create continuity. Having a clear focus helps people to identify with you and that is how you find your target market. Ask yourself the following questions: Who is my target market and how do I communicate with them? What is the niche I am trying to fill? What sets you apart? What do people want? Can you find a gap in the market place and fill it? What is the purpose of your business? Is there continuity between my business name, logo website and marketing materials? If you take some time to thoughtfully review these questions AND answer them you may find you begin to create clarity about the image you want to project. Next is the big step – Ask people to summarize in a sentence or two how they would describe you and your business. Is it what you wanted to hear? If not what did you learn and are there other changes you can implement? Don’t panic if this doesn’t all come together right away. The fact that you are focusing on it now is what is important. Being aware of what the market needs and who you are will make a difference so dedicate some time to this assignment. Remember coaching is all about ACTION! So don’t put this off any longer. And if you have had success with branding please share your success stories on Wellx. We would love to learn from you and cheer you on! For more information go to

New Years Small Business Tips - Week 1

Hello and Welcome! It's been a while since I've posted but one of my New Years Resolutions is to share more free coaching tips. In partnerships with Wellx I will be offering weekly tips for small business owners and independent professionsal. Do you want to: 1) Jump start your small business in the New Year? 2) Want to start a new small business? 3) Find it challenging to work alone and wish you could partner with other independent professionals? 4) Do you find it challenging to run all aspects of business or attract new customers? If you answered yes to any of the questions above then I am here to help. Each week I will share some of my coaching tips you may find useful. Try one or try them all. One of the benefits of working with a coach is the opportunity to accept challenges which can lead to growth. If you are not getting the results you want then these challenges may help. Taking action is important. Read the tips but more importantly do the ‘assignments’. A little time may produce surprising returns. Here is an overview of topics that will be covered: • The Importance of Branding (e.g., business name, logo, target market, purpose) • Your Vision Statement • Your Mission Statement • A Basic Business Plan • Strategizing to Success • The Elevator Speech • Talking Points • Research (to both understand competition and simpify workload) • Running a business (finances, administration) • Marketing • Networking • Support (mastermind partner, coach, focus group...) Hopefully right now you feel excited about the possibilities that await you. Each week come to my blog or to http://wellx.com/ for the new topic and your assignment. Challenge yourself to stick with it and do not avoid topics -- those are probably the areas you need to work on the most. I can help you to get stronger in those areas, delegate and simply. To create good momentum you may start with the topics you find most desirable. In other words you do not need to do these in order. Use your creativity and most importantly enjoy the process.
